A country of tradition and crafts
It was about time for me to set foot in North Africa. Morocco seemed the right choice, with all its history of migrations, protectorates, religion and also the beautiful landscapes.
In eight days we visited Marrakech, Fes, Chefchaouen (the blue city), Rabat and Casablanca, and made a small detour to the Roman ruins of Volubilis. It is striking how the country still remains strictly observant and at the same time is trying to catch up on modernity. They first have to spend less time at having meals, though! The most peculiar experience? The hammam in Rabat. The most beautiful city? Fes, with its labyrinthic medina and the crafts industry (though if you are an Instagrammer, Chefchaouen is definitely your heaven). Would I go back? Definitely, would like to focus on the desert/beaches and do some hiking. I took some pictures with an analog Canon AE1 as well, a selection is at the bottom of this page. |
